Arthritis and Chinese herbal medicine is a very developed aspect of Oriental medicine. Many effective remedies have been created over hundreds of years, and they work often when nothing else helps.
Chinese herbal remedies can be purchased online at various sites and at local Chinese markets. As with most herbs, avoid using them during pregnancy.
So you have arthritis and Chinese herbal medicine is something you're considering, but you don't know what remedy to use. Well, that depends on which "type" of arthritis you have. You determine that by looking at the associated symptoms... then choose the right remedy for that pattern.
To make it easier, I'm grouping some of the available remedies into the associated symptoms so you can compare and see the ones that sound closest to what you've got going on. Read all of them before making any decisions about the type of arthritis and Chinese herbal medicine appropriate for you.
The biggest distinction to make is - be sure that if your joints are red, warm and swollen, use only remedies from Group 3 (and vice-versa... if there not red, swollen and warm, don't use the remedies from Group 3).
These patterns often overlap, so you try to get in the ballpark when you choose a remedy...
Group 1 (called "wind cold damp type") - the pain could have any of these symptoms, but not necessarily all...
Some of the remedies used for this type arthritis are:
Clear Channels Teapills (a.k.a. Juan Bi Wan) by Plum Flower Brand. Best when pain is worse with lack of movement or worse with cold and/or damp weather.

Group 2 (called "blood stagnation type"). The pain could have any of these symptoms (but not necessarily all)...
These remedies are often good for the elderly who have poor blood circulation. Some of the remedies used for this type arthritis are:
