Natural cures for insomnia that work...
even when drugs won't?

Sleeping pills aren't the answer. Drugs may put you to sleep, but they won't help you to keep sleeping… without more drugs. In other words... the drugs don’t correct your problem.

The goal of sleeping pills is to make you sleep (more or less regardless of the cause.) The goal of Oriental natural cures for insomnia is to correct the mal-function that’s stopping you from sleeping.

Here are some of the natural cures for insomnia I feel are effective and use on my own patients. Since there are several underlying "patterns" that can cause insomnia, most (but not all) of these will be general insomnia recommendations.

Important - Do not underestimate these techniques just because they seem simple. Oriental medicine can be deceptively simple. Remember - I use these on patients all the time and they work.

Stop causing your insomnia

You weren't born with insomnia. That means you've almost certainly caused your insomnia (albeit, unintentionally.) Which then begs the question...

... "Why bother treating it if you're just going to keep causing it?"

That might seem obvious, but conventional medicine has taught us to look for something to fix us (i.e. drugs), rather than look at why we have the problem in the first place.

So, take a look at the insomnia causes page and, if you’re causing your problem, stop those behaviors where possible. You'd be surprised how much they are affecting you.

Calm your mind

Emotional stress and worry are among the main causes of chronic insomnia. So you need to handle them to get over it. Easier said than done, right? Not if you do it the right way.

The most effective way to calm your mind is meditation. It's much more powerful than you probably imagine. That's why it's so popular in other countries... and it's an integral part of Oriental medicine.

And, meditation not only calms your mind, but has strong regulating affects on your body. Remember - your insomnia has a physical root to it.

So, buy a book. Take a class. Look it up online. Whatever it takes, but do it every day.

Correct Your Diet

Oriental doctors have discovered that wrong diet can cause internal problems that lead to an over-active mind and insomnia.

Chinese Herbs For Insomnia

Chinese herbal remedies are excellent, correcting the underlying physical problem causing your insomnia, when chosen correctly. I use them frequently on my patients with good results.

Acupressure for insomnia

The best acupressure points depend on the type of insomnia you have. That involves more than I can explain on a website. But, you can try these general insomnia points... you may be very surprised by their effectiveness. (Be patient.)

Apply medium pressure to cause an "achy" feel (never painful), for a minimum 60 seconds / 3 X day, with your finger, thumb or knuckle to:

Pt. 1 - On the crease of your wrist, on the little finger side, in the depression just medial to the tendon you feel there. (Very good for calming you mind.)

Pt. 2 - On the inside of your ankle, between the big protruding bone and your Achilles tendon.

Pt. 3 - On the inside of your lower leg, approximately 3 inches up from the big protruding bone at your ankle, just behind the shinbone.

Other Natural Cure For Insomnia
