My recommended natural headache cures

The natural headache cures I use in my clinic aren’t limited to what I’ve listed below, but these are a great place to start.

If you’re not doing these things, you’ll almost certainly improve, probably a lot, by doing them.

These aren’t just suggestions – these natural headache cures may essential to getting over your headaches.

Important - Do not underestimate these techniques just because they seem simple.

Oriental medicine can be deceptively simple. Remember - I use these on patients all the time and they work.

O.K., lets start with:

Chinese Dietary technique

Here's a quick summary -

  • Eat a diet composed primarily of:
  • A large variety of cooked vegetables (fresh, lightly cooked, big variety) For now, forget what you've heard about eating lots of raw vegetables
  • Whole grains (brown rice, buckwheat and millet are all good)
  • Animal protein (small amounts, more like a condiment than a main course)
  • Water (room temperature - green tea is o.k. for most of us, too.)

To get good effect, stay away from everything else until you recover (especially dairy, sweets, cold foods, fruit juices and oily-greasy foods.)

This may be one of the most important things you can do (you must be patient with it.)

Also:

  • Don't overeat any one food
  • Moderate spices for flavoring
  • Let your stomach empty before eating again
  • Don't overeat or eat just before bed
  • Don't skip meals
  • Drink only about a teacup of warm water / green tea with meals

Acupressure (is very effective)

The best acupressure points depend on the type of headache you have.

Unfortunately, I can't explain that in-depth on a website. But, you can still try these and you may be very surprised by their effectiveness in time.

Apply medium pressure (never painful), for a minimum 60 seconds / 3 X day, with your finger, thumb or knuckle to:

Pt 1 - Massage the web of your hand between the thumb and forefinger where it's painful (press hard - you'll find it). This may only be a temporary fix, but can be very effective.

Pt 2 - Massage the vertex of your head at the point where the line between the top of your ears meet. You'll probably feel a depression there.

Pt 3 - Massage the web between your big toe and your 2nd toe, working up to the point where you feel the bones of your feet come together.

Massage your forehead

This may only give temporary headache relief, but it's often effective.

  • Use your fingers to "spread" your forehead from the centerline outward toward your ears.
  • Use 3 fingers spread above each eye, starting at the eyebrow, and "comb" backwards across the top of your head through your hair.

Calming your mind / emotions

Far and away the best method for this is regular meditation. There are many good books on this topic, but the basis is simple.

Breathing deeply and slowly into your abdomen, focus on your breath and don't allow any thoughts to come into your mind (regardless of how important that thought may seem to you).

It's like practicing any skill - the more you do it, the better you get. One day you'll find it's very hard to get your mind ruffled.

Do not underestimate the power of meditation. If stress is causing your problem, it's one of the best natural headache cures for you. That's why millions of people have used it for thousands of years.

Use Chinese Herbal remedies

Chinese herbal remedies are among the best natural headache cures when chosen correctly.

Unfortunately, I can't go into detail about it on a website, but you can for more information. I have instructional programs, similar to the one I use in my clinic, that you can use to determine the correct remedy.

Be Patient

Understand that, if you've had this problem for a long time, it's going to take your body time to change. Natural headache cures are not as fast as drugs, but is far more long-lasting when done properly.

You may see improvement within days, or it may take several weeks. That doesn't matter - you need to start and continue so your problem doesn't get worse.

Do these natural headache cures every day and be diligent with your dietary changes and meditation. Soon your headaches will be much less and your health will be greatly improved.
