One of the powerful natural healing for acid reflux techniques used in my clinic is acupressure.
Acid reflux or "heartburn" is called "rebellious stomach Qi (energy)" in Oriental medicine. That's because the energy (acid) of the stomach is "rebelling" by going upward instead of down.
Acid reflux involves relaxing of the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), allowing acid to slip through. There are pressure points on your body that prevent the "relaxing" of the sphincter and cause the "rebellious stomach Qi" to go in the right direction - downward.
Below, you'll see some very effective acupressure points used in my clinic for acid reflux. You need to use them regularly until your symptoms stop, then continue using for that same period of time.
For example, if it takes 4 weeks for your heartburn to stop, continue using the acupressure for another 4 weeks. I use these points on patients in the clinic with good success.
Important - you must stop the behaviors that are causing the acid reflux in the first place, otherwise you're continuing to cause the problem. See the acid reflux causes page for more about this.
Apply medium pressure (minimum 60 seconds, at least 3 X day) with your finger, thumb or knuckle to:
Pt 1 - 2 inches up the palm side of your arm from your wrist crease, between the tendons. Stimulating this point alone has been shown to reduce esophageal sphincter relaxations (the most important mechanism of acid reflux / GERD) by 40%.
Pt 2 - 3 inches below the lateral eye of your knee, 1 finger width lateral to your shinbone.(Great for almost any digestive disorder - has an incredibly strong regulating effect on digestion)
Pt. 3 - half way between the bottom tip of your breastbone and your navel.
Pt. 4 - 2 1/2 fingers from either side of your navel.
Pt. 5 - on top of your foot, between the 2nd and 3rd toes, just where the web between the toes begins.
Be consistent with these, avoid the causes of acid reflux and eat the correct diet for acid reflux. I use these natural healing for acid reflux treatments on patients in my clinic with good success rates.
